What To Expect When Creating An Estate Plan

Most people don’t arrive at a first meeting with every decision already made — and they shouldn’t have to. Planning for your assets, your care, or a loved one’s future involves details that take time to surface. We’re built around that reality.

Here’s what working with us actually looks like, from the first conversation to the moment your documents are complete.

Hear our team describe the experience in the video below.

We Start With Your Situation

At the initial meeting, we get to know you and your family — including the concerns behind your estate-planning decisions. We talk through what you’re trying to accomplish, which gives us what we need to build a plan that fits your situation rather than a generic template.

We Draft The Documents & Review The Plan

After that conversation, we draft the documents and review them with you more than once, including plain-language summaries so you can see exactly what each document is designed to do. Once you understand the plan, we fine-tune any details before moving to signing.

We Formally Sign The Documents

When the documents are finalized, we execute them in a formal signing before witnesses and a notary. This is the moment the plan becomes legally complete.

We Meet With Family & Remain Available

After execution, we typically hold a family meeting to walk through what’s been put in place with the people who need to know. And questions don’t have to end there — we’re always available to review the documents with our clients after signing at no charge.
